Nabin Chauhan

Nabin Chauhan is a visionary Nepalese filmmaker and director who has redefined the visual landscape of modern Nepali music videos and cinema. As the founder of Artmandu, a creative collective based in Kathmandu, he is credited with pioneering a storytelling-driven approach to music videos, moving away from conventional commercial formats toward cinematic narratives rooted in authentic rural life and cultural heritage. His work on the "Tinpathay" and the widely celebrated "Lajayera" has garnered tens of millions of views, establishing him as a master of "folk-contemporary" aesthetics. Chauhan's transition into feature filmmaking was marked by his directorial debut Unko Sweater(2025), a project that further solidified his reputation for capturing the raw, emotional nuances of the human experience. His philosophy often emphasizes that cinema was a natural calling rather than a calculated career choice, driven by an innate need to document the stories of ordinary people with extraordinary depth. Known for his collaborative spirit, he has been instrumental in the careers of numerous musical and acting talents, consistently prioritizing artistic integrity and visual poetry over mainstream tropes. Through Artmandu, he continues to push the boundaries of Nepali storytelling, bridging the gap between traditional folk essence and a sophisticated, global cinematic language.
