Marie Angelique Schoop is an American-Dutch philanthropist, born in Willemstad, Curaçao, in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Raised within a multicultural family, she has lived across different cultures, languages, and places. Marie Angelique Schoop’s television credits include 1810, in which she appeared in a recurring role across 15 episodes; El Cuento del Tío, in the episode "El Tío Perdido"; Relatos de Niños, in the episode "Abracadabra"; La vida es una lotería; Dime a Donde; La María; and Hotel para Dos. Her professional experience in the performing arts also included film and classical theatre, as well as billboards, advertising campaigns, and television commercials for national and international markets, including Europe. Although the greater part of Marie Angelique’s experience in the performing arts was deeply rewarding, one profoundly disturbing and deeply dehumanizing experience with a particular television production, whose consequences have endured long beyond its original broadcast, left a lasting impression on her understanding of the responsibilities of the entertainment industry. She remains firmly opposed to the commodification and dehumanization of performers, particularly the normalization of exploitative practices and the sexualized misuse of their image without meaningful regard for consent, human dignity, or accountability. For Marie Angelique, the arts have always belonged to a much broader cultural life. Her interests encompass visual art, architecture, literature, history, music, cultural heritage, travel, and objects that carry history across generations. Her relationship with the arts began early, including childhood study of ballet and traditional African dance, and has continued in different forms throughout her life. Philanthropy has been a longstanding commitment, extending across many years and different chapters of her life. Her involvement has included humanitarian relief, education, health, cultural and community-based causes, and initiatives supporting women and children. Her intellectual interests have included the study of psychology, alongside a broader curiosity about identity, individuality, and the complexity of human experience. Marie Angelique is married to Kurt Matthew Cellar, and regards the privilege of being a mother to her son as one of the deepest joys of her life. Today, she leads a private life devoted to those closest to her, philanthropy, continued learning, and a longstanding engagement with culture and the arts.
